italians daily life

A country told through a day – “Italy in a Day” is the Italian version, directed by Gabriele Salvatores, based on an idea of executive producer Ridley Scott.

Anyone could send in their videos made with any device during the 24 hours of October 26, 2013. Desires, dreams, fears, commentary, anything believed to be of importance occurring that day or simply what one could see looking out of their windows.

“Italy in a Day” consists of more than 44000 videos received from across Italy, 200 hours of images, 632 edited videos, a team of 40 selectors organised by editors Massimo Fiocchi and Chiara Griziotti. The result was a sort of message in the bottle on the emotional state, thoughts and confessions of Italians.

Faced with simple and impossible questions such as: who you are, what you love and what you are afraid of, the video makers for one day told of births, joys, loneliness, diseases, deaths, enthusiasm, intentions, in a session of vibrant collective self-analysis, awareness and expression.
