Singapore, with a call for joint projects, the Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement between Italy and the City State, full of Universities and Research Centers, comes into effect

ANSA

The Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement that was signed between Italy and Singapore in 2016 has finally become operational. After resuming the bilateral negotiations at the end of 2021 to arrive at an executive protocol, the agreement has now entered into operation: for joint projects in S&T was published on 7 October by the Embassy of Italy and by A * Star, the Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research.
“We are extremely satisfied with this result” declared the Ambassador of Italy to Singapore, Mario Vattani, “which was achieved thanks to our choice to resume intensive negotiations with Singapore government over the past months. Now the announcement represents a qualitative leap in our diplomatic relations, because it establishes for the first time that S&T relations are and will be a priority pillar of the collaboration between Italy and Singapore.”

Thanks to the entry into operation of the Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement, Italy-Singapore relations in all sectors identified in the call will be strengthened in particular: from food technology to artificial intelligence, from medicine to photonics, from quantum technology to robotics and to research on renewable energy and hydrogen.

At the end of the call, and after the selection process, an intergovernmental Executive Program will be signed with the list of selected projects that will be funded for three years.

Italy already has about twenty Executive Programs with other countries with which a joint call similar to this is launched every three years. With some countries we are beyond the tenth edition, a clear sign of the success of these bilateral initiatives.

“Now it’s up to those who work at a university or a research institute”, explained Ambassador Vattani “we invite you to participate or to invite whoever you think might be interested to apply.”
The deadline for the call is 30 November 2022.
