(ADNKRONOS): The President of the Piedmont Region Alberto Cirio present in Singapore on the occasion of the international networking with the World Alba White Truffle Auction held two days of meetings with the local authorities, including the Minister of Manpower and in charge of trade and industry, Tan See Leng, the President of the Singapore Food Agency, Lim Chuan Poh, and the top management of Enterprise Singapore.
The President presented the opportunities of Piedmont in a 360-degree story telling of the Region: from automotive to aerospace, from new food technologies to hydrogen. “Piedmont – explained President Cirio to his interlocutors – today represents the pilot region for the Italian government’s hydrogen policies, thanks to its innovation strength linked to the Polytechnic University of Turin and the ability to immediately apply these new forms of clean energy in industrial sectors”.
The interest of Piedmont in Singapore and South East Asia, which has grown steadily in recent years, on equal footing with the increased attention that Italy devotes to this increasingly strategic part of the world. In fact, there are numerous initiatives organized by the Piedmont Region, which thanks to its natural vocation for internationalization, desires to offer Piedmontese companies the necessary tools to explore the Singapore market with greater awareness, and hence an area of 600 million consumers.
The President’s visit opened with the XXIII edition of the World Alba White Truffle Auction. The event coincided with the inauguration of the Singapore edition of the Week of Italian cuisine in the world, which will be celebrated over the next two weeks with over thirty initiatives, including one for scientific outreach on childhood obesity in collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Gaslini Pediatric Clinic in Genoa.
The institutional meetings followed on Monday. The President had a meeting with the top management of Enterprise Singapore, during which future collaborations were discussed. In particular, on a mission of Singaporean companies to Piedmont to learn about the opportunities in the sectors of the Green Plan promoted by Singapore.
“Bringing here, thanks to Piedmont, this innovative image of Italy, which allows us to explore new collaborations with Singapore, means being protagonists in a showcase that is visible throughout Southeast Asia” commented Ambassador Vattani. The event “Discover Piedmont excellencies”, organized in the Ambassador’s Residence, facilitated an exchange on possible common initiatives with the Minister of Manpower in charge of trade and industry Tan See Leng, the President of Singapore Food Agency Lim Chuan Poh and qualified representatives of the economic world Italian and Singaporean.
In the afternoon, the President met with the scientific and business community present in Singapore. During the visit to the laboratories at the National University Singapore (NUS), Prof Massimo Alioto explained the joint project with the University of Turin of scalable interfaces at low-power for the Internet of Things.
The subsequent meeting with the Italian system in Singapore, represented by the European Chamber of Commerce, the Italian Chamber of Commerce, Italian Trade Agency, Bank of Italy, allowed the President to take stock of the activities that the Piedmont Region, accompanied by the Embassy and all the players of the country system present in Singapore will be able to support to foster the internationalization of Piedmontese companies in this area, in continuity with what the Region is already doing to promote the leading sectors of the Region.
The visit ended with a meeting with Singaporean tour operators for the organization of thematic tour packages dedicated to Piedmontese excellence. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the event at the “Italian Wine pairing dinner” organized at the Cricket Club, a historic and prestigious club in the heart of Singapore. (ADNKRONOS)
