WHAT IS THE VOTE ABOUT?
By Decree of the President of the Republic dated 13 January 2026, published in the Official Gazette, General Series, No. 10 of 14 January 2026, a confirmatory referendum has been called pursuant to Article 138 of the Constitution, concerning: “Provisions regarding the judicial system and the establishment of the Disciplinary Court.”
WHO CAN VOTE ABROAD?
- Voters registered with AIRE (Registry of Italians Residing Abroad), who receive their voting envelopes directly at their foreign residential address.
- Italians temporarily abroad for at least three months exclusively FOR WORK, STUDY OR MEDICAL REASONS, as well as their cohabiting family members abroad.
NOTE: Voters temporarily abroad must submit a specific request to their Italian municipality of residence BY 18 FEBRUARY in order to receive the voting envelopes.
WHEN IS THE VOTING?
In Italy, voting takes place on Sunday 22 and Monday 23 March 2026.
Voters abroad cast their ballots in advance, by mail. The voting envelopes will be sent to the registered address by 4 MARCH.
ATTENTION: Voters who have not yet received the voting envelopes by 8 MARCH may contact their consular office to request a DUPLICATE.
HOW TO VOTE?
Voting is carried out by mail. Ballots must be sent back to the consulate following the instructions included in the information sheet inside the voting envelopes and using only the materials provided.
Only ballots received by this Embassy NO LATER THAN 4:00 p.m. local time on Thursday, 19 MARCH will be forwarded to Italy for counting.
