Singapore will establish the National Space Agency (NSAS) on April 1, 2026, marking a strategic step in the development of its space capabilities and international cooperation. The announcement was made by Dr. Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and in charge of Energy and Science & Technology, during the first edition of the Space Summit 2026, which brought together experts, policymakers, and leaders from the global space industry on February 2–3 in the city-state.

Leading Italian companies active in the space sector, including Leonardo, Thales Alenia Space, CY4GATE, ELT Group, MIPRONS, and D-Orbit, participated in the event, supported by the Embassy of Italy in Singapore and other stakeholders of the Italian system in the country.

In the words of Ambassador Dante Brandi, this represents a further opportunity to develop joint excellence projects with Singapore in the space domain, as evidenced by the ongoing collaborations with the Italian Space Agency (ASI). The ambitions of the new NSAS include regulatory and technological developments in strategic areas such as Earth observation for environmental purposes and disaster prevention, the development of satellite communications, data management including through quantum technologies, and the advancement of sensors and innovative propulsion systems.
