Singapore, 11 June 2026 – The 24th edition of the Italian Film Festival opened in Singapore with the screening of Primavera, directed by Damiano Michieletto and starring Stefano Accorsi.

This year’s programme features eleven films, ranging from the box-office success Buen Camino by Gennaro Nunziante, starring Checco Zalone, to Cinque Secondi by Paolo Virzì, as well as the contemporary western Testa o Croce? and Il Maestro, featuring Pierfrancesco Favino. The festival will also present a restored version of Dario Argento’s cult classic Profondo Rosso, newly remastered from the original 1975 release.

The 2026 edition of the Festival, the longest-running Italian cultural event in Singapore, is held within the framework of ITALIAN SCREENS, the programme promoted by the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and coordinated by Cinecittà. The initiative aims to strengthen the international circulation of Italian audiovisual productions while fostering new opportunities for dialogue, collaboration and partnership across global film markets.

The opening ceremony, hosted at The Projector by Ambassador Dante Brandi, was attended by Roberto Stabile, Head of International Affairs at Cinecittà. During his two-day visit to Singapore, Mr Stabile held meetings with leading stakeholders from the local film, audiovisual and entertainment sectors to explore new avenues for cooperation in film distribution, international promotion and the development of joint audiovisual projects.

The initiative reflects Italy’s continued commitment to enhancing the international visibility of its cinema and creative industries, while further strengthening ties with strategic partners across the Asia-Pacific region. In this context, Singapore continues to play a key role as a leading regional hub for the audiovisual and entertainment industries.
