On November 24th, 2021 the European Commission announced that Covid-19 certificates issued by Singapore are recognised as equivalent to the EU’s Digital Covid Certificates.
As a result, Singapore will be connected to the EU’s system and the COVID certificates issued by the City-State will be accepted in the EU under the same conditions as the EU digital COVID certificates. This means that holders of Singapore vaccination certificates will be able to use them under the same conditions as the holders of EU digital COVID certificates. At the same time, Singapore agreed to accept EU digital COVID certificates presented by the travellers coming from EU member States.
The decision enters into force on November 25th. For more information click here.
Singapore is the first Southeast Asian country to be connected to the EU digital COVID certification system. The decision will further facilitate travel between Singapore and the countries of the European Union, including Italy, which has already recognized the Singaporean Pfizer and Moderna vaccination certificates as equivalent to the Italian ones for the purposes required by law (entering Italy and as “green pass” to walk in indoor venues and public establishments, as well as shows and events) based on the Circular of 23 September 2021. The EU decision strengthens this measure by allowing the interoperability between the two systems and the automatic validity of their certificates.
