Bertolucci’s movie “The Last Emperor” at the Oldham Theatre on 16 and 22 April 2022

On the 16th and 22nd of April 2022, Bernando Bertolucci’s movie “The Last Emperor” will be screened at the Oldham Theatre of Singapore. The movie screening is part of the “Orienting Paradise: Western Projections of the East” program, whose tickets are already on sale since 25 March 2022.

Starred by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Talking Heads’ David Byrne, The Last Emperor won 9 Academy Awards, sweeping every category in which it was nominated, such as best picture, best director, best cinematography, and many others.

The Last Emperor is a multi-level biographic movie which presents the last emperor of China, Pu Yi; first movie to be shot in the Forbidden City, that describes, through the backdrop created by Bernardo Bertolucci, the story of the protagonist who struggled all his life before becoming a puppet emperor of the Japanese-controlled Manchukuo.
