Italian Embassy & Temenggong@SG Artists-in-Residence Partner for Cultural Exchange

On Tuesday, 18 March 2025 the Embassy of Italy in Singapore and Temenggong@SG Artists-in-Residence signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration between Italian and Singaporean artists in the fields of visual arts and music.

The agreement, signed by Ambassador Dante Brandi and Prof. Soo Khee Chee, Chairman of Temenggong, with the participation of George Yeo, former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore, marks a significant step in strengthening cultural dialogue between the two countries, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations.

“In a time of great and uncertain global transformations, art has the power to build bridges that bring our countries closer together, overcoming geographical distances and strengthening the bond between Italy and Singapore,” said Ambassador Brandi.

Established in Singapore in 2009, Temenggong Artists-in-Residence is an arts charity supporting local and international artists through residency programs, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary projects. Amongst their multifaceted residencies with filmmakers, musicians, and scholars, their events transcend arts, culture and heritage, fostering an environment of creative exchanges and experimentations.

The partnership will kick off on March 21 with a concert by Italian pianist Alessandro Martire, performing alongside the Flavours Quartet from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, set against the stunning backdrop of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
