Singapore, 5 November 2025 – The President of the Centre for Higher Defence Studies (CHDS), Lieutenant General Stefano Mannino, paid an official visit to Singapore from 2 to 5 November.
During his mission, he met with senior officials of the Singapore Ministry of Defence and the leadership of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), a government research institute specialising in strategic and international studies.
He also held discussions with the Director and several analysts of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the think tank that annually organises the Shangri-La Dialogue — the leading security forum in the Asia-Pacific region, which gathers political and military leaders from around the world to address the main challenges to regional and global stability — as well as with representatives of the defence industry and members of the Italian scientific community based in Singapore.
Assisted by Ambassador Dante Brandi, Defence Attaché Captain (Navy) Marco Corsi, and accompanied by Diplomatic Counsellor and Deputy Director of the Institute for Higher Defence Studies, Mr. Emanuele Farruggia, General Mannino discussed with his counterparts the most up-to-date approaches to strategic education, the professional development of military and civilian personnel, and the promotion of a culture of defence.
He also shared assessments on key regional and global security challenges — from hybrid threats to economic security and technological competition — laying the groundwork for an even more active collaboration with Singaporean counterparts in the fields of analysis and education.
