Singapore, 20 February 2026 – The local Section of the National Carabinieri Association (ANC) was inaugurated today at the Embassy of Italy in Singapore. It is dedicated to the memory of Carabiniere Scelto Vittorio Iacovacci, Gold Medal for Military Valor, who fell in the line of duty on 22 February 2021 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

This is the first ANC Section in the world dedicated to Iacovacci, the first ever established within an Italian diplomatic mission, and the first in Asia — underscoring the strong link between the diplomatic network and the Carabinieri in representing the Italian State abroad.

On the occasion, Ambassador Dante Brandi recalled the words of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, on the meaning of service to the State in Italy and around the world, sustained every day by women and men who embody courage and dedication. He described the establishment of the Section as “an act of memory and responsibility, demonstrating that the values of duty and solidarity continue to live on even far from Italy.

During the ceremony, a minute of silence was observed on the fifth anniversary of the tragic deaths of Ambassador Luca Attanasio, Carabiniere Scelto Vittorio Iacovacci and Mustapha Milambo, a driver for the World Food Programme.

The Singapore ANC Section, chaired by Auxiliary Carabiniere Claudio Bizzoni and established with the support of General C.A. Salvatore Luongo, Commander General of the Carabinieri and Honorary President of the Association, as well as General C.A. Libero Lo Sardo, National President, already brings together fourteen members and represents an important addition to the associative landscape for the nearly five thousand Italian nationals residing in the Asian city-state.
