WHAT AM I VOTING FOR?
With the Decrees of the President of the Republic dated 31/03/2025, published in the Official Gazette, General Series, no. 75, you will vote for the following five popular abrogative referendums:
- Reduction of the legal residence period for non-EU adult foreigners to apply for Italian citizenship from 10 years to 5 years.
- Abrogation of regulations concerning unlawful dismissals under increasing protection employment contract.
- Partial abrogation of dismissals and related compensations made by small businesses.
- Partial repeal of provisions regarding term setting, maximum duration, and conditions for extensions and renewals of contract of salaried employment.
- Abrogation of rules excluding joint liability for injuries suffered by the employees due to specific risks inherent to contracting or subcontracting activities.
WHO CAN VOTE ABROAD?
AIRE (Registry of Italians residing abroad) registered voters will receive electoral envelopes at their residential addresses.
Italians who are temporarily staying abroad for at least three months for work, study, or medical care, along with their family members living abroad, can vote if they submit a request to their Italian municipality before or by 7 May 2025.
WHEN CAN I VOTE?
- In Italy voting will occur on Sunday, June 8th, and Monday, June 9th, 2025.
- Overseas voters will vote by mail in advance. Electoral envelopes will be sent by 21 May 2025.
IMPORTANT: Voters who do not receive their envelopes by 25 May 2025 can request a DUPLICATE from their consular office.
HOW CAN I VOTE?
Voting is conducted by mail:
- Follow instructions in the provided information sheet.
- Use only materials supplied in the electoral envelope.
- Return ballots to the consulate.
- Ballots must arrive at the consular office no later than 4:00 PM local time on Thursday, 5 June 2025, to be counted in Italy.
