{"id":510,"date":"2023-06-08T15:35:16","date_gmt":"2023-06-08T07:35:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambsingapore.esteri.it\/?page_id=510"},"modified":"2024-10-23T15:42:02","modified_gmt":"2024-10-23T07:42:02","slug":"marriage-at-the-embassy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ambsingapore.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/stato-civile\/marriage-at-the-embassy\/","title":{"rendered":"Marriage at the Embassy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To get married at the Italian diplomatic-consular premises in Singapore and to submit an <strong>application for a consular marriage<\/strong>, it is necessary to be resident in Singapore and be registered AIRE at this Embassy.<\/p>\n<p>The application must be\u00a0<strong>signed by both spouses<\/strong>\u00a0and presented in person to the consular office together with a photocopy of the valid identity documents of both of them.<\/p>\n<p>The consular office will have to issue the certificate of No-Impediment (<em>Nulla Osta<\/em>) to the marriage for Italian citizens registered with AIRE (Registry of Italians Residing Abroad). To this end, Italian spouses must fill in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ambsingapore.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/richiesta-nulla-osta-al-matrimonio-08082023114341.pdf\"><strong>Self-Declaration to request the No-Impediment (<em>Nulla Osta<\/em>) to marriage<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0by paying in\u00a0Singapore dollars the due fee equivalent to 6.00 Euros. Once the request has been completed and the necessary checks have been carried out, the consular office will proceed to issue this certificate.<\/p>\n<p>If the consular office accepts the application (as the requirements provided for by the law are met), the marriage banns can be requested.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign citizens must present the following documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>original birth certificate duly legalized\/apostilled<\/strong>, translated into Italian and translation certified by the local Italian Embassy\/Consulate;<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;certificate of non-impediment&#8221;<\/strong> issued by the authorities of your country duly legalized\/apostilled, translated into Italian and translation certified by the local Italian Embassy\/Consulate. In the event that such certificate is not produced by the authorities of your country of origin, it is recommended to contact your Embassy in Italy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>marriage celebration can be refused<\/strong>\u00a0when local laws oppose it or when the parties do not reside in the same consular district.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The marriage banns<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Italy,\u00a0<strong>the celebration of marriage must be preceded by the marriage banns<\/strong>, carried out by a Registrar. The marriage banns remain posted on the consular notice board for\u00a0<strong>at least 8 days<\/strong>. The\u00a0<strong>marriage<\/strong>\u00a0can be\u00a0<strong>celebrated 3 days after the marriage banns<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>within the following 180 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Spouses must complete this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ambsingapore.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/13.-modello_richiesta_pubblicazione_del_matrimonio.pdf\"><strong>Form<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and sign it upon hand delivery to the diplomatic-consular authority.<\/p>\n<p>To book an appointment click\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\/\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The application for\u00a0<strong>marriage banns<\/strong>\u00a0is charged at\u00a0<strong>12 euros<\/strong>. The equivalent in Singapore dollars is subject to the quarterly updated exchange rates.<\/p>\n<p>To check the\u00a0<strong>updated amounts<\/strong>, please, view the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ambsingapore.esteri.it\/ambasciata_singapore\/en\/informazioni_e_servizi\/tariffe-consolari.html\"><strong>Consular Fees<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application for Marriage Banns<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It can be presented:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>in person by the couple<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>by an authorized third party<\/strong>\u00a0with a\u00a0<strong>special power of attorney<\/strong>\u00a0written on plain paper and a copy of the valid identity documents of the spouses;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For those who are\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>EU citizens<\/strong>\u00a0and residing in Italy, their\u00a0<strong>signature<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>must be affixed in the presence of a consular officer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If the spouses are\u00a0<strong>both Italian citizens residing abroad<\/strong>, it is necessary to apply for the marriage banns from the diplomatic-consular representation where the consular marriage will be celebrated.\u00a0If they reside in two different consular districts, the marriage banns must be made at both diplomatic or consular Missions.<\/li>\n<li>If one of the spouses (<strong>Italian or foreigner<\/strong>) resides in Italy while the other (<strong>Italian citizen<\/strong>) resides abroad, it is necessary to apply the marriage banns from the diplomatic-consular representation where the consular marriage will be celebrated, which in turn will ask the Municipality of residence in Italy to execute it. The marriage banns will therefore be made in both places of residence of the future spouses.<\/li>\n<li>If the\u00a0<strong>Italian spouse<\/strong>\u00a0resides in Italy while the other is a\u00a0<strong>foreign citizen<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>resides abroad<\/strong>, it is possible to alternatively: apply for the marriage banns from the diplomatic-consular representation or from the Italian municipality of residence, which will issue a proxy to the diplomatic or consular representation for the celebration of marriage.<\/li>\n<li>If\u00a0<strong>both spouses reside in Italy<\/strong>, it is necessary to request the marriage banns from the Municipality of residence. If they reside in two different municipalities, the marriage banns will be made in both municipalities.
