(Registry of Italians Residing Abroad) is a right and duty of the citizen (Law No. 470\/1988, Article 6) and constitutes the prerequisite for accessing consular services provided by representations abroad, as well as for the exercise of important rights. Law No. 213 of December 30, 2023, in effect from January 1, 2024, introduces a new sanctioning regime for Italian citizens who move abroad and do not fulfill the registry obligations established by law within 90 days from the date of transfer.
