POSTAL VOTING FOR ITALIAN CITIZENS RESIDING ABROAD
\nAND OPTION TO VOTE IN ITALY<\/strong><\/p>\n

By decree of the President of the Republic dated 13 January 2026, published in the Official Gazette on 14 January 2026, the dates of\u00a022 and 23 March 2026<\/strong>\u00a0have been set for the referendum pursuant to Article 138 of the Constitution, concerning the amendment of certain articles of the Constitution (the so-called \u201cJustice Reform\u201d).<\/p>\n

Pursuant to Law No. 459 of 27 December 2001, voting is a\u00a0right protected by the Italian Constitution<\/strong>, therefore Italian citizens residing or temporarily abroad who are registered on the electoral rolls may\u00a0vote by post<\/strong>, receiving their ballot materials at their registered address. To ensure this, it is strongly recommended to check and, if necessary, immediately update one\u2019s personal and address details with the Consular Office of this Embassy<\/strong> (as election materials must by law be mailed nearly one month before the date of voting in Italy), preferably through the online consular services portal\u00a0Fast It<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alternatively, voters registered with A.I.R.E. (Register of Italians Resident Abroad) may choose to vote in Italy at their municipality of electoral registration by notifying the Consulate\u00a0in writing<\/strong>\u00a0of their choice no later than the tenth day following the calling of the referendum. This option applies only<\/strong> to the specific referendum for which it is made.<\/p>\n

This\u00a0OPTION<\/strong>\u00a0must reach the Consular Office\u00a0no later than 24 January 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The completed and signed form, together with a copy of an Italian identity document sent to the Consular Office of this Embassy by post, by regular email to: ambsingapore.elettorale@esteri.it<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The option communication may also be written without using the provided form. However, to be valid, it must include the voter\u2019s name, surname, date and place of birth, place of residence, and signature, and must be accompanied by a copy of an identity document.<\/p>\n

Under current regulations, it is the responsibility of voters to ensure that the Consular Office receives their option communication in time<\/u>.\u00a0Requests received after the deadline indicated above will not be considered valid.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The choice to vote in Italy may later be\u00a0revoked<\/strong>\u00a0by sending or delivering a written notice to the Consular Office using the same procedures and within the same timeframe as for the option itself.<\/p>\n

The law does\u00a0NOT<\/strong>\u00a0provide any reimbursement for travel expenses incurred to return to Italy to vote, but only offers fare concessions within Italy.<\/p>\n
