The Embassy of Italy in Singapore is pleased to invite the public to a talk by Francesco Canali, Director of the Construction Sites of the Duomo di Milano, one of Europe’s most iconic architectural landmarks. Since 2014, Canali has overseen the ongoing conservation and restoration of the Cathedral and the historic Candoglia Quarry, coordinating highly specialised teams dedicated to preserving this extraordinary monument for future generations.
Drawing on his extensive professional experience, Canali will explore the traditions and practices that have enabled the preservation of historic buildings across different cultural and geographical contexts. Reflecting on the case of the Duomo di Milano and comparing it with other international experiences, he will highlight the shared values of stewardship, maintenance and conservation that unite heritage professionals around the world.
The event will provide a unique opportunity to gain insights from one of the leading figures in architectural conservation while engaging with broader questions of heritage management, preservation and the transmission of cultural memory to future generations.
