The Embassy of Italy in Singapore is pleased to highlight Travelog: Italy, an initiative organised by the National Library Board (NLB) of Singapore as part of its Travelog series, a programme that invites participants to discover countries and cultures through literature.

The introductory session will take place on 2 July 2026, from 7.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., at Programme Room 1, Central Public Library, and will focus on two acclaimed works by some of Italy’s most celebrated literary voices: My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante and Family Lexicon by Natalia Ginzburg.

Through these works, participants will have the opportunity to explore different dimensions of Italian society, history and identity, engaging with settings and experiences that range from post-war Italy to the realities of Naples. The session will offer a unique perspective on the country through its literary heritage.

The event will be facilitated by Clare, founder of the online book club Study Hall and a literature content creator with a global audience. The session will introduce the selected books, their cultural context and the key themes that connect them, providing participants with a framework for their subsequent reading.

The initiative is open to everyone, from avid readers and literature enthusiasts to those simply interested in gaining a deeper understanding of Italian culture through its authors and literary traditions.

The programme will continue on 27 August 2026 with a Book Party discussion, during which participants will come together to exchange reflections and discuss the themes and ideas emerging from the two books.
