2025

  • 29–30 April: During his mission to Southeast Asia, the Deputy Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, Hon. Valentino Valentini, met once again in Singapore with the Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Alvin Tan.

2024

  • 28 October: In conjunction with the departure of the Amerigo Vespucci, the Undersecretary of State for Defence, Hon. Matteo Perego di Cremnago, visited Singapore and met with the Minister of State for Defence, Heng Chee How.
  • 23–26 October: The Deputy Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, Hon. Valentino Valentini, visited Singapore on the occasion of the stopover of the training ship Amerigo Vespucci and held meetings with the Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Alvin Tan, and the Minister of State for Defence, Heng Chee How.
  • 2–4 October: The Governor of the Bank of Italy, Fabio Panetta, chaired in Singapore—at the premises of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)—the meetings of the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). His programme also included a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and a meeting with the Managing Director of MAS, Chia Der Jiun.
  • 24 June: Visit to Italy by the President of the Republic of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Meetings were held with the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. President Shanmugaratnam was accompanied by the Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Alvin Tan, who met with the Deputy Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, Hon. Valentino Valentini.

2023

  • May 24-25: The Deputy Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Edoardo Rixi had his visit to Singapore to explore new opportunities for collaboration between our ports and companies in the logistics and sustainable mobility sectors. The meeting with Singapore’s Minister of Transport S. Iswaran allowed for a discussion on Singapore’s role as a global maritime hub and how Italy intends to strengthen its centrality in maritime routes connecting Asia and Europe by improving its infrastructure, including digital infrastructure.
  • March 21-24: Visit to Singapore by Undersecretary of State for Defense Matteo Perego di Cremnago to participate, with a plenary address, in the fourth edition of the Singapore Defense and Technology Summit. The Undersecretary was accompanied by a delegation from the Secretariat of Defense/National Armaments Directorate. A sidebar meeting was held at the Ministry of Defense with his counterpart Heng Chee How.
  • February 6-7: Visit of Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi to Singapore to attend the opening of the exhibition “La Grande Visione Italiana – Collezione Farnesina“. Meetings  were held with Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs Sim Ann, Minister of State Low Yen Ling and ASEF Executive Director Toru Morikawa.

2022

  • July 9-10: Visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio. The Minister attended a breakfast hosted by his counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan and witnessed the signing of the Contract between Agenzia ICE and Accelerating Asia for service to Italian startups under ICE’s Global Startup Program.
  • February 16-17: Visit of Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Manlio Di Stefano. Meeting with Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sim Ann and sovereign wealth funds GIC and Temasek.

2021

  • October 12: the Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong represented Singapore at the G20 meeting on trade and investment of October 12, 2021, in Sorrento, third of a series of meetings and last one occurring before the G20 summit held on October 30-31, 2021.
  • September 5 and 6: on the occasion of the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Health, held in Rome, Minister Ong Ye Kung met with Health Minister Roberto Speranza.
  • August 5 and 6: on the occasion of the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Digitisation and Research, held in Trieste, Minister for Economic Development Giorgetti and Minister for Technological Innovation and Digital Transition Colao met with Minister for Communications and Information Josephine Teo. The Ministerial Meeting on Research was chaired by the Minister for Universities and Research, Mass. At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding on digital cooperation with the Minister of Communication and Information of Singapore was signed.
  • July 21-24: on the occasion of the G20 Ministerial on Environment, Climate and Energy, held in Naples, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Amy Khor attended the meeting chaired by Minister for Ecological Transition Cingolani.
  • July 9 and 10: on the occasion of the G20 Economy and Finance Ministers’ Meeting, Finance Minister Laurence Wang attended the meeting chaired by Economy and Finance Minister Daniele Franco and Bank of Italy Governor Ignazio Visco.
  • June 29: on the occasion of the G20 meeting of Foreign Ministers, held in Matera, Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio met his counterpart, Vivian Balakrishnan.

2020

  • November 23: the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, held video conference talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Vivian Balakrishnan. The talks focused on cooperation in the struggle against the Covid-19 pandemic, digitalisation and economic synergies between Italy and Singapore, Italy’s Presidency of the G20 and co-Presidency of the COP26; the Asean.

2019

  • December 19: Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio met with his counterpart, Vivian Balakrishnan, in Rome.
  • May 9: The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, went on a mission to Singapore, preceded by a stop in Vietnam. Minister Moavero held meetings at the highest level with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and Ambassador Chio Kiat Ow.
  • March 25 and 26: Minister Giovanni Tria visited Singapore, where he met the head of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the Minister of Finance and the heads of the GIC and Temasek sovereign wealth funds, as well as the Board of the Chamber of Commerce and leading representatives of the Italian community.
  • January 21: on the occasion of the EU-ASEAN Ministerial, Foreign Minister Moavero Milanesi met with his counterpart Balakrishnan.

2018

  • April: the second edition of the Italy-ASEAN High Level Dialogue was held in Singapore, organised by two Italian think tanks (TEH Ambrosetti and Associazione Italia-ASEAN), with the participation of Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs Della Vedova.
  • February 8: Foreign Minister Alfano visited Singapore as part of an intense three-day visit to Southeast Asia. The mission enabled bilateral relations to be consolidated, while meetings with qualified counterparts made it possible to assess the most appropriate strategies for increasing trade and investment flows between the two countries. The Minister pro tempore met with his counterpart Balakrishnan and Minister of Commerce Lim Hng Kiang, as well as the heads of the Temasek Sovereign Wealth Fund, the GIC Fund, the Economic Development Board and the A-Star Agency.

2017

  • March 10: Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economic Development Ivan Scalfarotto carried out a mission to Singapore during which he met the Deputy Minister of the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry, Dr Koh Poh Koon, inaugurated the sixth edition of the Gambero Rosso “Top Italian Wines” Roadshow and finally had a fruitful exchange of views with the Senior Managing Director of the Temasek Sovereign Wealth Fund, Michael Buchanan.

2016

  • June 3-5 : Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti attended the Asian Security Summit (the so-called “Shangri-La Dialogue”) held in Singapore from June 3 to 5. This was the first opportunity for an Italian representative to take part in the most important multilateral forum on defence issues in South-East Asia. In addition , Minister Pinotti had the opportunity to exchange views with her counterparts through a full programme of bilateral meetings.
  • May 22-25: the President of the Republic of Singapore Tony Tan Keng Yam paid his first State visit to Rome, where he was welcomed by the President of the Republic Mattarella and the then Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi. The meeting sealed the relationship between Italy and Singapore and underlined their alignment on many issues on the agenda. It was also an opportunity to give further impetus to economic relations: President Tan was in fact accompanied by the Minister of Industry and Trade S. Iswaran and a large business delegation, which participated in numerous events in various Italian cities. From the cultural point of view, numerous agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were concluded between Italian and Singaporean Universities and public bodies during the visit, while an Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation was signed at intergovernmental level.

2015

  • October: on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Italy’s diplomatic relations with the City-State, a visit was paid by former Prime Minister Romano Prodi, who was received by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his predecessor Goh Chock Tong, followed by a conference at the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
  • May: Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni received his counterpart, K. Shanmugam, at the Farnesina.
  • April: Minister of Economy and Finance Pier Carlo Padoan visited the City State  to discuss issues related to information exchange and tax transparency.
