Singapore, May 22 2025 – To mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Singapore, the Embassy of Italy in Singapore, in collaboration with Gardens by the Bay, has launched two symbolic initiatives that combine memory, beauty, and cultural exchange.

The first is the photo exhibition “Italy–Singapore: 60 Years of Friendship”, curated by ANSA, Italy’s leading news agency. The exhibition highlights six decades of collaboration between the two countries, focusing on key areas such as culture, defence, science, economy, and politics.

Complementing the celebrations is the official inauguration of “Lilytopia”, a spectacular floral exhibition inspired by the city of Venice, hosted in the Flower Dome until 15 June 2025.

The opening ceremony took place in the presence of Madam Halimah Yacob, former President of the Republic of Singapore.

The event was officially inaugurated with welcome addresses by Ambassador Dante Brandi and Mr Felix Loh, Chief Executive Officer of Gardens by the Bay. Both speakers emphasized the exhibition as a symbol of cultural dialogue, creativity, and international cooperation.

In his remarks, Ambassador Brandi stated:

“Initiatives like Lilytopia are very important as they offer a way to bring distant cultures closer, allowing people to experience something extraordinary without necessarily having to travel far. This is not only inclusive but also sustainable. Sharing pieces of our cultural heritage abroad helps protect and preserve cities like Venice, whose beauty must be cherished with care and responsibility.”

During the ceremony, Italian singer Ilaria Della Bidia gave a stunning performance, surprising everyone with her crystal-clear voice.

Lilytopia celebrates the elegance of Venice, inviting visitors to experience an immersive journey that blends culture and sustainability.
