On 8 October, during Singapore’s international racing week, the National Gallery Singapore hosted “Formula Italia – Italian genius beyond the track”, an initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Singapore and Vogue Singapore.

The event celebrated the extraordinary relationship between Italian creativity, design, innovation and high-performance engineering, exploring how Italian ingenuity extends far beyond the world of motorsport.

At the heart of the initiative was the Asian premiere of the Italian documentary “Formula Italia: Genius Beyond the Track”, a journey into the origins of Italian motorsport creativity and passion, exploring the technological expertise – both visible and invisible – and the human ingenuity that have made Italy synonymous with excellence both on and beyond the racetrack.

The screening took place within the broader framework of ABITO, presented at the National Gallery Singapore from 3 to 17 October, transforming one of Asia’s leading cultural institutions into a showcase of contemporary Italian creativity.

The internationally acclaimed exhibition explores the dialogue between fashion, industrial design and craftsmanship, highlighting the ability of Italian creativity to transcend traditional boundaries while offering a perspective on the evolution of the role of women in Italian society.

Together, ABITO and Formula Italia told a broader story: from fashion to mobility, from craftsmanship to advanced engineering, showcasing Italy’s distinctive ability to unite beauty, function and innovation.

The evening was complemented by an exclusive live conversation with a leading female racing driver, moderated by Vogue Singapore, exploring creativity under pressure, resilience, leadership, technological progress and the pursuit of excellence.

An important underlying theme was the role of women in motorsport and high-performance industries, with a focus on the contribution of female talent and leadership in traditionally male-dominated fields, as well as the importance of inspiring a new generation to see technology, innovation and motorsport as industries where their talent can thrive.

The initiative brought together representatives from the creative industries, luxury sector, business community, institutions and media, creating opportunities for dialogue and networking between Italy, Singapore and the international community gathered in the city during one of the most dynamic weeks of the year.

The collaboration with Vogue Singapore also gave the initiative a strong editorial and digital dimension, extending the conversation through storytelling, interviews and dedicated content and connecting the themes of Italian creativity and innovation with audiences across Singapore, Asia and internationally.

“Formula Italia” is ultimately a story about what happens beyond competition itself: the ideas, people, creativity, expertise and relentless pursuit of excellence that make extraordinary performance possible.

It is a formula that brings together tradition and the future, craftsmanship and technology, design and engineering – an expression of an Italian heritage that continues to evolve and generate new forms of innovation.

The initiative celebrated values shared by Italy and Singapore: culture, creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and excellence. By bringing together institutional diplomacy, world-class editorial storytelling and Italian creativity, “Formula Italia” demonstrated how culture can foster dialogue, inspire innovation and contribute to strengthening international partnerships.

Because genius goes far beyond the track.

Because speed is not only engineered. It is designed.
