Farnesina Award – Italian Bilateral Scientific Cooperation Award 2026: Call for Applications

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) is launching the ninth edition of the Farnesina Award – Italian Bilateral Scientific Cooperation Award, dedicated this year to Italian junior researchers under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves abroad for their scientific achievements.

The Award recognises Italian researchers whose scientific and technological activities abroad have made a significant contribution to strengthening scientific and technological cooperation between Italy and foreign institutions or international organisations.

For the 2026 edition, the Award has been renewed as part of an initiative aimed at promoting mobility from abroad to Italy and encouraging the return of Italian researchers. The winner will receive a contribution to support a three-month research stay at an Italian research institution, to be undertaken within 12 months of the selection. The host institution will be selected in consultation with the CoPER (Conference of Presidents of Italian Public Research Institutions), taking into account, where possible, the candidate’s preferences and research interests.

The winner will also be invited to present their research at the Conference of Scientific and Space Attachés and Agricultural Experts, to be held in Reggio Calabria in November 2026, and will receive a commemorative diploma and plaque.

Italian researchers residing in Singapore who meet the requirements set out in the call are invited to submit their applications to the Embassy of Italy in Singapore by 20 September 2026.

For eligibility requirements, application procedures and further information, please consult the Call for Applications.
