Important Notice for Schengen visa applicants
Due to the G7 Summit that will be held in Taormina on May 26th – 27th 2017, customs and security checks and controls at Italian sea, land and air border-crossing points will be temporarily reintroduced from 10th till 30th of May 2017, according to art. 25 of Schengen Borders Code (Reg. EU 2016/399).
This is a measure adopted by the Schengen States in the case of similar events.
The resumption of border controls will take place from 00.00 on May 10th at 24.00 on 30 May 2017.
Kindly note that reintroduction of borders checks controls may sensitively affect waiting time at border crossing points for Third Countries citizens who entered the Schengen area from another Member State in order to visit Italy.
Foreign travelers from the Schengen area will not be subject to the regulation stipulated in Schengen Borders Code for the entry stamp on the passport. As a result, foreigners coming from another Schengen State holding a valid VSU for one entry (with an entry stamp already affixed upon entry into the Schengen Area) will be considered to have a valid Authorize entry into Italian territory, as long as the visa is still valid.
