Notice to Italian Nationals Residing in the Republic of Singapore

MAECI-ambasciata-italia-V-IT-02-social-05

Due to ongoing forest and agricultural fires in the region, the territory of the Republic of Singapore is currently affected by the so-called “Haze” phenomenon, characterised by elevated levels of particulate matter and smoke in the air. The intensity of the phenomenon is measured using the PSI Index, which assesses air quality on a scale ranging from 0 to 300 (from a value of 101 onwards, air quality is considered unhealthy).

During periods of increased intensity, the phenomenon may pose health risks, lead to a deterioration in air quality and reduce visibility (for further information, please consult the “Security > Environmental Risks and Natural Disasters” section of the Country Information Sheet, as well as the guidance published by the Singapore Ministry of Health).

Citizens in areas particularly affected by the Haze are advised to follow the guidance issued by the local Ministry of Health. In particular, when the PSI value exceeds 100, they are advised to reduce outdoor activities and remain adequately hydrated. Individuals with chronic heart or lung conditions are also advised to ensure that they have their prescribed medications readily available.

The PSI level by area can be checked at any time here.

It is recommended to continue monitoring developments and to follow the advice and recommendations issued by the local authorities.
