(ANSA) The Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi today inaugurated in Singapore the first stage of the journey to Asia of the traveling exhibition of contemporary art of the Farnesina Collection “The Grand Italian Vision”.
“This exhibition – said the undersecretary in her speech – is contemporary in terms of content and objectives.
It is an awareness of the Farnesina of the dynamics taking place on a planetary level, which see the pendulum of history move towards the region of the world bordered by the Indian and Pacific oceans.
The Grand Italian Vision” – she continued – is not just an exhibition. It is an offer of dialogue. Today the creative artists of Italian art look to Asia and the Pacific with curiosity and attention, in search of new bridges to build. We want to increase the interest of the public of those countries for the talent of the artistic and cultural movements of contemporary Italy”.
The Guest of Honor at the ceremony was the Minister of State for the Ministry of Trade and Industry and for the Ministry of Culture, Low Yen Ling, with whom the undersecretary had a meeting at the end. The meeting was an opportunity to express satisfaction for the joint launch last October of the call for projects of the Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement signed in 2016. A great success that saw the participation of almost a thousand Singaporean scientists and Italians and which also confirms in the scientific field the great potential of the collaboration between our two countries.
Another bilateral meeting, the one with the National Arts Council and Singapore’s main institutional interlocutors in the field of art, culture and communication, preceded the inauguration ceremony. It allowed for a comparison of the respective cultural promotion strategies and for discussing possible joint initiatives to be implemented in Italy also in the context of our partnership with ASEAN.
“We are really pleased to welcome our undersecretary Maria Tripodi to Singapore – declared Ambassador Vattani – to inaugurate this splendid exhibition. The goal that inspires all our initiatives is to offer a vision of Italy that is as current as possible, through all our excellence: from contemporary art to the avant-garde sectors of industry, technology, scientific research and design, in the belief that a better knowledge of Italy’s industrial and innovative potential will give further impetus to the Italian presence in Singapore and to the relations between our nations”.
The 70 works will be on display from 7 to 25 February 2023 and will be hosted in the prestigious premises of “The Arts House” in Singapore, formerly the seat of the first Parliament of the City-State, and in the exhibition space of the new premises of the Italian Embassy in Singapore . (ANSA).
