Cancellation from A.I.R.E. takes place:
- for registration in the Registry of Resident Population (A.P.R.) of an Italian Municipality following transfer from abroad or repatriation;
- for death, including judicially declared presumed death;
- for alleged unavailability, unless proven otherwise, after one hundred years from birth or after carrying out two subsequent investigations, or when the address previously communicated abroad is no longer valid and it is not possible to obtain the new one;
- for loss of Italian citizenship;
- for transfer to the A.I.R.E. of another Italian municipality.
1. Cancellation from A.I.R.E. for repatriation and registration at the A.P.R.
- AIRE registered citizens who return permanently to Italy must report to the Municipality where they have decided to settle in order to declare their new residential address.
- On the same date, the Municipality will cancel the AIRE with simultaneous registration in the APR (Resident Population Registry).
- The Municipality is responsible for officially communicating the effective date of the repatriation to the Consulate of origin which will register the repatriation in its consular records.
2. Repatriation of Household Items and Personal Effects
- If the citizen intends to re-import his/her household items and personal effects, he/she must fill in the list of these household items and personal effects in the form, which can be downloaded HERE, as well as the form of the Return Declaration, which can be downloaded HERE.
- The presence in person at the Consular counter is required, by a prior appointment booked online via “Prenota online” Portal, to have the household items’ form endorsed by the Consular Officer.
