SCHENGEN VISAS

FOR SHORT STAYS UP TO 90 DAYS

Singapore citizens do not need a visa for their short stay in Italy (up to 90 days).

The Embassy of Italy in Singapore handles applications for Schengen visa to Italy and Malta.

A Schengen visa is issued for the purpose of a short stay (less than 90 days) in Italy and all Schengen Countries (Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta,  the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland).

The Schengen Visa does not give the holder the right to reside or work in Italy or in any other Schengen country.

The issue of Schengen visas is discretionary and is based on examination/evaluation of each individual case, including purpose of visit and intention to return to country of residence.

Holders of a Schengen visa are still subject to immigration control and are not guaranteed entry into any of the Schengen countries.

Please be aware that the waiting time for an appointment can vary depending on number of requests and times of the year.

Applications cannot be lodged earlier than three months before the start of the intended travel.

Visa Application Processing Time

The Embassy of Italy processes tourism and business visa applications in the fastest possible time. Usually, we process most of the requests within five working days  from the day of passport delivery at the Embassy; in some cases longer processing time might be needed. According to Schengen Visa Code all decisions must be given within 15 calendar days, eventually extendible to 30 days. For national (long term) visas the processing time can  require up to 30 days for family reunion and salaried work, and up to 120 days for self-employment work.

Citizens of some countries are subject to consultation procedure which might extend processing time.
