talian citizens registered with AIRE and residing in Singapore can request the validation of their Italian driving licenses at the Embassy, between 4 months before and 5 years after the expiry date of the driving license (art.126 paragraph 9 of t D.L. 285/1992).
Documents to be submitted:
- Original Italian driving license;
- Original medical certificate issued less than 3 months, by the selected doctor. Click HERE to download the form of Medical Examination Report and the list of clinics.
- Present the above mentioned documents to the Consular Office after booking an appointment online through PRENOTAMI portal by clicking HERE.
The validation is issued upon viewing the documents on the same day of the appointment and after the payment of the consular due fees, amounting to about 90 SGD. The validation duration is 10 years for those under 50 and 5 years for those above 50 years old.
ATTENTION: it is reiterated that a new driving license cannot be issued, nor other declarations of any kind but only a validation card. Issuing a new driving license, even in the event of theft / loss / deterioration, can only be requested directly from the office of Civil Motorization of your Municipality of AIRE registration either in person or by sending a person on your behalf with a proxy or through a specialized agency.
In the event of cancellation by AIRE for repatriation, the citizen has the obligation to renew the license according to the ordinary procedure provided for in the national territory, within six months of regaining residence in Italy.
Those who are in possession of a Singaporean driving license can drive on the Italian territory, provided that they have not been resident in Italy for over a year and that they hold an International Driving Permit (IDP) or an official translation into Italian of the Singaporean license, certified by the Italian Embassy. The driving license and the international permit must both be valid.
